Hard Candy, by Madonna (2008)

Whoa! As if the album cover isn't enough. This is one slammin' hour of new Madonna material. Mr Pinky wasn't too keen on Madonna's eurocentric Confessions album, but loves this return to Madonna's original rnb dance roots.

For the past decade Madonna has been using European electronic producers. I wonder why she's had this return to black American artists. Maybe she's feeling a bit homesick after living for so long in the UK. No matter, the results are fantastic.

Most of the production and songwriting has been done in collaboration with The Neptunes, most notably Pharrel Williams. They've made some great hits for the likes of Britney and Justin over the past decade. Hopefully they'll be able to do the same for Madonna with this album.

Unlike Confessions, which went from segue to segue, Candy is full of more solid, memorable pop songs that will stay with you long after you've listened.
